Vintage Report
Cooler than usual April weather delayed budburst by two weeks but was followed by warm and dry flowering conditions, which led to excellent fruit set in all varieties. The growing season was steady and finished with most of September and part of October bringing warmer-than-normal temperatures. To capitalize on the late warm weather, harvest started slightly later than usual and continued at a steady and manageable pace. All estate vineyards were picked with the vintage complete on November 10th. Excellent vine management, tight pruning regimes and irrigation control came to the fore in allowing the estate-grown fruit to reach ripeness. The young wines are showing great promise, with excellent balance and varietal definition. The whites are fruity and full-bodied, the pinot noir and syrah have ripe aromatics and outstanding body and colour.
Tasting Notes
Our 2008 unoaked Pinot Grigio displays a bouquet of bright, rich tropical fruit. Nuances of luscious peach and papaya linger for a rich, clean finish.
Food Pairing Notes
Delicious and fruit-forward. This white is ideal for creamy pastas, baked foccacia, and dishes that are lightly spiced – oregano, basil, and rosemary pairings showcase the character of the wine.
